It is important for me to stress that you do not need any experience in yoga, breath work or meditation to benefit from Yoga Therapy. It is not about making shapes on the mat, but uses the tools of yoga such as movement, breath, relaxation, and mindfulness to support our physical and mental health. Drawing from both traditional yoga philosophy and modern therapeutic approaches, The Healing Mat offers a safe, compassionate space for you to find introspection and connection.
Yoga Therapy is personalised: together, we’ll work at your pace to find simple, sustainable ways to restore harmony and calm in your everyday life. We explore your unique needs, experiences, and goals to explore your self-healing aiming to easing physical and mental health conditions.
This might include gentle movement to ease pain or tension, breathwork to calm the nervous system, or guided relaxation to help manage stress, anxiety, or emotional overwhelm. We also incorporate dialogue for a deeper understanding of your body’s wisdom in this co-authored process promoting self-care and encouraging overall well-being.
Yoga Therapy can work alongside other talking therapy modalities and may be the key to unlocking held emotions. It can be used to treat a range of physical and mental health conditions, it may also be beneficial for supporting hormonal changes through peri menopause and post menopause.
My 600hr Yoga Therapy training through Yoga United Education, is registered by the CNHC (Complementary & Natural Health Council) and endorsed by the GMC (General Medical Council) guidance confirms that doctors are able to refer patients to practitioners on registers accredited by the CNHC, (this will be governed by funding in local authorities.)
According to one of the great masters of yoga therapy from the 1900s, TVK Desikachar:
“Yoga therapy is a self-empowering process, where the care-seeker, with the help of the Yoga therapist, implements a personalised and evolving Yoga practice, that not only addresses the illness in a multi-dimensional manner, but also aims to alleviate his/her suffering in a progressive, non-invasive and complementary manner. Depending upon the nature of the illness, Yoga therapy can not only be preventative or curative, but also serve a means to manage the illness, or facilitate healing in the person at all levels.”

Classes
My yoga classes are open to all abilities and are grounded in gentle, Hatha-inspired movement, combined with calming pranayama (breathing techniques) and guided relaxation. Each session invites you to become the master of your own body—learning to move with awareness, observe your breath, and notice how these subtle shifts support emotional regulation. Whether you are new to yoga or experienced, the practice is accessible, nurturing, and designed to meet you exactly where you are.
We met online on a Tuesday evening 6:15pm or In -person on Wednesday evenings at 7pm in Horsham, West Sussex.
These classes are ideal for:
Complete beginners or those returning to yoga
Individuals living with chronic pain
Anyone experiencing stress, anxiety, or emotional overwhelm
People who prefer gentle, mindful movement
Those looking to improve breath awareness and nervous system regulation
Every ‘body’ is welcome, and modifications are offered throughout to support comfort and confidence.
Workshops
Gentle 2-hour workshops of rest, stillness, and self-nourishment.
Sink into deep relaxation with a soothing blend of restorative yoga, calming Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep), and a sprinkle of sweetness to finish.
These workshops offer a sanctuary of stillness. A space to release tension, quiet the mind, and reconnect with your natural sense of ease. Through supported, restful poses and guided relaxation, your body and nervous system are invited to unwind completely. You don’t need any experience in yoga to share these workshops, just a willingness to leave stress behind.
As the practice closes, we’ll share tasty, nourishing treats. A simple moment of connection and grounding before you step back into your day.
Come as you are. Leave feeling restored, replenished, and held in gentle kindness.
